Can anyone clap back harder than Black Twitter? Probably not.
The latest snatched wig belongs to Abigail Fisher, whose case against affirmative action is currently being argued in front of the U.S. Supreme Court.
Fisher was rejected from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008, and claims that it was because she was white. UT has a "holistic" admissions review, considering students based on many factors, including race. According to the Guardian, Fisher's lawyers say that considering race in the admissions process subjects white people to racial discrimination. Essentially, Fisher believes her spot at the university was taken by black students who benefit from a "holistic," diversity-focused admissions review.
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia made comments on Wednesday in favor of Fisher's case, suggesting minority students may be better off going to "lesser schools:"
There are those who contend that it does not benefit African Americans to get them into the University of Texas where they do not do well, as opposed to having them go to a less-advanced school, a slower-track school, where they do well.
Black Twitter seized the golden opportunity to show Fisher (lovingly referred to as Abby) and Scalia exactly how wrong they are. With the hashtag #StayMadAbby, Twitter users shared photos of #BlackExcellence, calling Fisher out and raising some serious points.
