One of America's biggest progressive groups, MoveOn, has endorsed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders for president—a major win for the socialist Democrat's campaign.
The group, which has more than 8 million members, announced on Tuesday that more than 78 percent of its members voted in favor of a Sanders endorsement, the largest margin of victory for any candidate in MoveOn's history. In comparison, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton received only 14.6 percent of member votes.
The progressive group said in a blog post that members cited five reasons for the endorsement:

Sanders' campaign responded to the endorsement on Twitter, welcoming MoveOn to "the political revolution."
Not only did Sanders score this huge endorsement just weeks before the Iowa caucuses, but the Democratic candidate also got a shout-out from U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden on Monday night.
During a CNN interview, Biden praised Sanders for his long-term commitment to economic equality, saying, "Bernie is speaking to a yearning that is deep and real. And he has credibility on it."
In the same stroke, Biden called Clinton "relatively new" to the fight against wealth disparity.
So far, Sanders' campaign has had a stellar week.
Sanders overtook Clinton in an Iowa poll on Tuesday. The two candidates are extremely close in the polls: Clinton has 43 percent of Democratic voters' support and Sanders has 39 percent, according to a recent poll from Investors Business Daily.
With the Iowa caucuses just around the corner, it's likely that more big endorsements will be coming in for both Sanders and Clinton. In a race this close, every victory counts.
